Elela-Care Mission (Elela-Care)
Elela-Care Humanitarian and Development Organization (Elela-Care) is a distinguished non-governmental organization, registered with the Nigerian government through the Corporate Affairs Commission. Established in March 2021, Elela-Care has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable populations across communities in Nigeria. With a commitment to both emergency and developmental contexts, Elela-Care identifies critical gaps affecting populations, devising resource-based strategies for implementation.
Our Focus Areas:
1. Youth Empowerment: At Elela-Care, we recognize the potential of young people as catalysts for positive change. As a youth-led organization, youth empowerment is our utmost priority. We are committed to providing young individuals with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Through deliberate training and action-oriented initiatives, we harness the energy, creativity, and innovation of youth to address pressing social challenges.
2. Community Development: Elela-Care invests in the well-being of girls, women, children, and vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by emergencies. Our initiatives encompass girl child education, gender-based violence prevention, women's empowerment, and maternal and child health.
3. Humanitarian Response: Elela-Care actively participates in the ongoing humanitarian response to protracted crises that have displaced over 3.4 million people in the BAY states. Collaborating with stakeholders and humanitarian actors, ELELA-CARE improves response efficiency, especially for displaced populations, returnees, and refugees in deep field locations. Currently Elela-Care have expanded its coverage to Benue state in Northcentral Nigeria.
Key Achievements:
1. Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Elela-Care has been at the forefront of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction efforts in Borno and Adamawa states. Recently, our Executive Director led a successful training session for community members in Bama LGA, focusing on Community Based disaster risk management and resilience-building measures in the face of climate-related challenges.
2. Partnerships and Collaborations: Elela-Care has forged strategic partnerships with organizations like The Juli Education Foundation (TJEF), University of Maiduguri, Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF), and UNFPA to address critical issues such as education access for children in informal learning centres and campaigns against gender-based violence.
3. Advocacy and Awareness: In 2022, Elela-Care partnered with UNFPA and other humanitarian actors in the '16 Days of Activism Campaign' against gender-based violence, amplifying the message of standing against rape and seeking justice.
4. Youth-Led Innovations: Elela-Care leverages its youth-led approach to implement innovative solutions to complex challenges. Through the utilization of cutting-edge technologies and techniques, we develop sustainable interventions that address the identified needs of communities effectively.
Looking Ahead:
At Elela-Care, our focus is on looking ahead to a future where youth empowerment remains at the forefront of our mission. We are committed to nurturing the leadership potential of young people, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to drive sustainable change in their communities. Through innovative approaches and collaborative efforts, we strive to create a future where youth are empowered to shape their destinies and contribute meaningfully to society. Additionally, we address significant challenges such as gender disparity in both academic and working sectors through advocacy, empowerment, and collaborative efforts with stakeholders and communities. Together, we work towards a future where all individuals have equal rights and opportunities to thrive. Upholding our mission of fostering resilience, empowerment, and inclusive development for all, particularly the most vulnerable members of society, remains paramount at Elela-Care.
